Mida Creek (YAWN) Part 2

Well not only has lunched past but dinner, breakfast and lunch again since part 1 of this thrilling blog....

What else can I say about Mida Creek, lots of mangroves, lots of sand, crabs, flying winged things called birds, a bridge made of wood that reminded us "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here" - which was pretty much what we felt like a good half an hour into our trip. Would of been a great trip if we were at all interested in what was beneath the sand that the birds ate, how many different species of mangroves, how their roots were etc etc. Felt like we were on a Geography Trip at 14 again....

We ate maize with the locals on the Island and they duly attempted to rip us off - 500 ks for a bit of maize which you can get for 5 ks on the roadside. Then we canoed round the island a bit and actually (stand by your beds - not moaning on this bit) we had lunch which was fab; fresh snapper, rice, tomato salad and fruits for desert and of course Tusker! Then the tide came in which was just as well cos we were all desperate to leave and I think probably would of resorted to swimming back to the mainland at this point...

So would I recommend Mida Creek - well yes if you are into bird watching, a botanist, or interested in little things in the sand otherwise stay well clear and spend you 2,600 ks on a slap up meal or plenty of tuskers.
